Benefits of SIPSFAQsDownloads and ResourcesCase Studies
SIPS is short for Structural Insulated Panel System; each panel is made of very high thermal performance rigid polymer foam sheets sandwiched between 11mm thick sterling or orientated strand board (OSB) which have incredible structural integrity.
SIPs are available in a variety of thicknesses for use as internal or load bearing walls and roofs. Each SIP is faced on both sides with orientated strand board (OSB) factory-bonded to the rigid inner insulation layer, making the wafer-like construction.
Current building trends and Building Regulations are demanding better insulation performance and lower energy usage from new buildings. Our vast building and design experience has proven that SIPS are the best product to meet these demands.
The SIP System uses a traditional cavity wall construction with the inner skin comprising a structurally insulated panel (SIP). As the SIPs carry the building's structural load, similar to other timber construction methods, the external facing of the wall is largely for weathering and decorative purposes.
We construct very large panels off-site, to your specifications, which we then crane into position onto your foundations. With good access to the site we achieve a very short on-site construction time using much less timber, as studs are only required at junctions.
Compared with traditional building techniques, using SIPs by SIPS Ecobuild is:
